Blinky Bill
The kids are really into koalas right now — Baxter pretending to be one, and Amelia doing animal research on them — so I asked my sister for one of the books from my childhood: The Complete Adventures of Blinky Bill. 
This is kind of the Peter Rabbit of Australia, and the book features lots of illustrations and some color plates.

Just like with Peter Rabbit, there’s a fair amount of violence in these stories, so we’re going to have to do some explaining/editing — but quite frankly compared to the raw Grimms fairy tales we’ve been reading every night, these stories are likely going to be a nice change.
