An effective way to ask to wear someone else’s sunglasses:

Baxter: “Mom, I wish I was you.”

Me: “You do? Why?”

Baxter: “Because I like your sunglasses. Because I like red, and I also like white!”

Me: “And you like polka dots?”

Baxter: “Yes!”

Three and a half

We had a classic 3.5yo moment yeaterday evening, in which Baxter was overcome by emotion at the very thought of a bath, flung himself on the ground, and wailed, “But I don’t want to do sings dat I don’t want to do!!!”

At the end of bath, when I was toweling him off, he kissed me a few times on the face and neck and then told me with eyes wide, “You have a LOT of kisses now!”

I got this little story from Baxter’s teacher:

I shared some photos of Amelia at three years of age with Erika in the Cedar class. She thought they were photos of Baxter. I told her they were of Amelia. Her response? “WAIT! Baxter is going to get older?!?!”

I feel the same way, Erika. I feel the same way.

Teacher gifts

School’s out for summer! Well, I mean, school is out until summer camp begins next week. But the official school year is officially over, which of course means that teachers get gifts! I (foolishly?) volunteered to wrangle up the collaborative end-of year presents we give teachers at our school, for my son’s classroom. Everyone donates money or goods or something, plus a drawing/painting from each kid for a memory book, and I put it all together into a nice package. Boy, that was a lot more work than I anticipated. End of year is stressful already, so I’m pretty sure I won’t be helping with this volunteer job again. But! I like the way the baskets and memory books came out.
